HAILIE WISE, MEd, PCLC

Hi, I’m Hailie!

I've always been more curious about people than most things. What shapes us, how our experiences follow us around, what actually allows someone to change. That curiosity led me through undergraduate work in sociology, criminology, and psychology, and then into years of working in schools, therapeutic residential programs, and boarding schools. I loved supporting people in those settings. But I kept noticing that I wanted to be more directly involved in the change itself, not just present for it. That's what led me to graduate school and, eventually, here.

Who I Work With

I'm especially drawn to working with college students and young adults. There's a lot of pressure during that stretch of life to already know what you want, who you want to be, where you're headed. In my experience, that time is really about something messier and more interesting than that: exploring, making mistakes, learning what feels true to you, and figuring out what you actually want your life to look like. I find that process genuinely fascinating to be part of.

That said, I don't think the work of figuring ourselves out belongs to any one age or stage. Life keeps bringing new transitions, losses, relationships, and unexpected turns no matter where you are. I work with people across different points in life who are trying to make sense of what they're experiencing and decide what comes next.

How I Work

I don't see myself as someone with all the answers, and I'm not here to tell you what you should or shouldn't do. I see counseling as something we figure out together. My job is to listen without judgment, help you identify what's actually getting in the way, and support you in moving toward the life you want.

Sessions look different depending on what's needed. Some days that means working through something hard. Other days it looks more like brainstorming, learning a skill, making sense of a situation, or just having someone to think things through with. I work from a person-centered foundation and also draw on tools from trauma-informed approaches and addictions counseling when they fit.

What This Work Has Taught Me

I am thinking about what to share here….I’m excited to share more as I contemplate…. haha.

Outside the Office

A lot of what keeps me grounded happens outside. I'm usually hiking, skiing, backpacking, or floating the river when I'm not working. I've loved horses since I was a kid, and living in Montana has given me real room to keep that part of my life going. I also listen to a lot of podcasts and tend to get absorbed in whatever I'm learning about at the moment.

The Clients I Work Best With

I work well with people who are curious about themselves, even if they don't have the words for what's going on yet. You don't need to know exactly what you need from therapy or where to start. We can figure that out. What helps is showing up willing to explore.

If You're Nervous About Starting

You don't need to have everything figured out before you reach out. You don't need to know what you need or even where to begin. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up as you are, and where we can work toward changes that actually feel meaningful to you. That part we do together.
